Liposuction

This is an effective method of modelling of the problem areas of your body, such as the hips, abdomen, inner and outer thighs, arms or the double chin.  The principle of the surgery is removal of excessive fat by a thin cannula tube. The tissue is first filled with a special liquid mix which reduces bruising and swelling after the surgery as well as providing anaesthetic to the given area.

Therefore the procedure does not need to be made under anaesthetic and the patient will not be required to stay in hospital.

The method is suitable for modelling of the figure and it is not intended for weight control.

Only a 4 mm tiny scar from the cannula tube insertion will remain on the skin.

The surgery is preceded by a detailed consultation with the surgeon who explains potential risks of the procedure, the postoperative process and he also determines the size of special elastic underwear to be worn for two weeks after the procedure.

You will need preoperative examination which includes blood tests and ECG to evaluate the state of your health. This examination will be performed by your GP, or it will be provided by our clinic. One week before the surgery it is necessary to stop taking any medicines such as Acylpyrin, Aspirin, Mironal which impair blood coagulation.

The patient is admitted to the clinic between 8 - 9 a.m. on the day of surgery. You are allowed to drink liquids before an outpatient procedure. You are required to bring your preoperative examination results with you. The surgery may take about 2.5 hours.

Arrange that somebody drives you home as it is not advisable to drive a care after the procedure. The first replacement of the bandages at the clinic is usually in one week’s time. If you decide to spend this convalescence period in Karlovy Vary, the staff of our clinic will arrange accommodation for you. The special compressive underwear is worn for two weeks and is taken off only when taking a shower. There is a transparent fluid running out of the tiny wounds for about first three days. After this period you can return to work. Cosmetic surgery is not covered by health insurance policies and the sickness note cannot be issued.

The skin is bruised for about a week; the swelling may persist for up to two months, therefore the effect of liposuction is not visible until a few days after the procedure. You will not be able to do sports until about four weeks following the surgery.

The tiny scars must not be exposed to the sun /not even in solarium/

All complications are prevented during the preoperative preparation; some may occur very rarely, but they can never be completely ruled out before the surgery. Also the scar quality cannot be fully guaranteed beforehand, as this depends on the particular healing type of each individual. It is impossible to provide a 100% guarantee regarding the surgery result. The statistics worldwide state 5 – 10% of complications. As a result of these a corrective surgery may be necessary.
